Art has always been a means of portraying one’s emotions and experience. From the time of the early settlers to the contemporary artists of the renaissance era art has been a part of history’s greatest achievements.
We managed to get in touch with the talented budding digital artist, Nimeshi Fernando, who paints with her heart and using her emotions as a canvas.
‘Calm after the storm’ A digital portrait that highlights the state of tranquillity through liberation. This vividly expressive portrait resembles the daily struggles of humanity.
‘Hope’ Hope transcends beyond its illustration it signifies the divine essence one looks for when in agony.
‘Some people are worth melting for’ ‘I drew this particularly when I was in love with someone. He was the kind of guy that kept me hanging, it was obvious he didn’t want a relationship but I was at a stage where everything he said or did was gold and hope. I kept secretly loving him, trying my best to keep him happy and involved in my life even though he caused me more pain than anything good. He was worth melting for… He wasn’t.’
‘Dance of love’ An expressive state of mind where love for one another is being expressed through the fluid motion of dance.
‘Araliya’ A Sinhalese term that refers to the flower Frangipani, the mystical symbol of immortality and the continuation of the soul after death. It is a symbol of perpetual beauty and love.
‘It’s a colourful world’ “I love colour and I love how colour is all around me whether it’s in objects, in my surroundings or just radiating out of people and emotions. Here this is me just bursting and overflowing colour and emotions. This is how I mostly see myself.”
‘Sensual Palette A head filled with colours of confusion a state of mind that is common to all
‘Sugar quoted lies’ In love you’re always wearing your rose coloured lenses. Everything they say is beautiful. They make hopeful promises. Their words keep you safe but once you move away you realize they were all just sugar coated lies…disguised words said what you wanted to hear but they meant nothing more, only less.
