The year two thousand and twenty has been somewhat a gruesome and trying year for the entire globe. America being a “superpower” hasn’t sought salvation from the peril hurled at them. The year started off with the global Coronavirus pandemic spreading from China and currently claiming 132,569 lives as of 6th July. To make matters worse the killing of Black American George Floyd on the 25th of May spurred the nation causing a massive pandemonium and tantrum, which resulted in the “Black Lives Matter” protests, which bore attestation to vandalism and destruction of private property of the country.
Just when things started to simmer down a tad American rapper Kanye West, a known supporter of the current U.S. President Donald Trump, publicly announced on his twitter platform that he intends to run for the 2020 Presidential elections. It is uncertain from which party he’d contest as the rapper hasn’t officially consulted either the Democratic or Republican party officials.
Kanye who feels it is time for a man of ‘god’ to take charge of the country quoted as follows. “We must now realise the promise of America by trusting God, unifying our vision and building our future. I am running for President of the United States,” West wrote in a twitter post, adding an American flag emoji and the hashtag “#2020VISION”.
Whether Kanye is serious about running for president isn’t certain as of yet, as no update of him having filed any official paperwork for the upcoming election, which is to be held on the 3rd of November has been confirmed by state authorities.
The rapper has been known to have made outcries in the past for mere publicity. Hence, perhaps this could be another attempt at gaining popularity.
West, who is currently married to reality show actress Kim Kardashian has previously visited President Trump at the White House.
Back in October of 2018, the rapper delivered a profanity-laden speech in which he discussed alternative universes and his diagnosis of bipolar disorder, which he later stated that might have been the result of sleep deprivation.
Automobile innovator and CEO of Tesla, Elon Musk tweeted “You have my full support”. Musk is also in line for “The Most Eccentric Award”, which he may possibly win this year surpassing compatriot Kanye West.
